Planmeca Sovereign

The Planmeca Sovereign dental unit incorporates unique design concept by which the unit, chair, and bowl come with motorised swivel movements. This sophisticated concept provides for optimised flexibility, as the unit adapts to every user and patient need as well as to all possible working environments and operations. All unit functions are symmetrical, which enables a motorised conversion from right-handed to left-handed use. With the intelligent graphical user interface and its customisable user-specific settings and parameters, this unit truly complies with any present and future requirement within modern dentistry.
Headrest
The shell and cushion are particularly well shaped to meet the morphological requirements of all types of patients. The headrest has been slightly widened, curved and cut out to closely follow the contours of the back of the head by creating a maximum area of support. Planmeca Sovereign’s motorised headrest movement geometry allows us to move the headrest up and down in the vertical dimension. With most motorised headrests, the vertical adjustment geometry is severely compromised.
Patient chair
The advantage is that there is a lot more room under the chair to allow the dentist and the assistant to move their legs freely when they are sitting down. There must also be room for the foot control. In addition, the design will allow them to combine correct working conditions (both feet on the floor, back straight) with direct or indirect vision of all the quadrants and a correctly positioned foot control.
Adapts to dentist
To allow the dentist to work ergonomically, the patient support is specifically designed to:
■ bring the patient as close to the correct position as required, irrespective of the patient’s morphology
■ put the patient’s head in three different positions (forward, backward, left or right, turned to the left or right about the long axis), which make it possible to ensure that the treatment area is perpendicular to the practitioner’s line of vision.
From the design point of view, Planmeca Sovereign has met the challenge of combining ergonomics and comfort thanks to its ingenious backrest and headrest design.
Backrest
■ Very slim (2 cm)
It gives the dentist and the assistant sufficient legroom, including under the lower part of the backrest, when they are sitting in a position between 9 and 12 o’clock. The new Planmeca Sovereign headrest is the ideal solution.
Planmeca Balance Delivery
The instrument console can be equipped with six instrument without any restrictions in instrument positioning. All the instruments are equipped with quick connectors and are thus easily detachable. Planmeca Sovereign is equipped with balanced instrument arms, which can be adjusted according to the weight of the instrument and the personal preferences of the user.
Planmeca Sovereign Reach
Planmeca Sovereign Reach features over-the-patient delivery arm with hanging tube instruments. As the instrument delivery arm is employed from the right side of the chair, the instruments remain out of the patient’s view at all times. The console can be adjusted to the correct height, ensuring the instruments are always within easy reach.
Planmeca Sovereign Side
Planmeca Sovereign Side features side delivery arm with hanging tube instruments. The modern and sturdy delivery arm has smooth movements and is constructed to carry as much as ten kilograms. The delivery arm and the instrument console are placed at the side, out of the direct view of the patient.
Legrest
The backrest and legrest movements are perfectly synchronised. Sovereign legrest is 6°. The synchronised emergency movement of the seat and the legrest allow us to obtain the two Trendelenburg positions used in dentistry.
Ultra upholstery
Unprecedented comfort. This viscoelastic upholstery adapts perfectly to the patient’s anatomy, because it is filled with a special polyethylene material which individually assumes the shape of the patient’s body.
Cuspidor and bowl
The motorisation and kinematics of the cuspidor bowl allow it to be brought close to the patients, practically in front of them, to allow them to perform mouth rinsing as hygienically as possible. The intelligent filling system automatically fills the glass to a preprogrammed level.
The movable glass holder can be sterilised at 134°. This glass fill function is disabled when the glass is not in place. The glass bowl can be removed instantly to allow it to be thoroughly rinsed under the tap or preferably thermodisinfected at 93°.
Hygiene management
Planmeca Sovereign is fitted with a water inlet that is EN 1717 compliant and prevents back contamination of the public water system.
Smart flushing device
■ The unit assesses the water consumption and adjusts the flushing times accordingly.
■ Fully automatic internal flushing after a long period of inactivity.
■ The unit automatically chooses the correct flushing cycle, giving the user time for more productive tasks.
Pylon support arm concept
On Planmeca Sovereign, the Pylon support arm concept and the sturdiness and high stability of the floor-mounted unit allow installation of many different elements. This design makes it easy to install an X-ray unit, the screen, a microscope, or any other device at the most appropriate height.
The exceptional swivel movement makes it easy to choose the direction by which the patient enters and exits the chair, irrespective of the position of the unit.
GUI
GUI with customised settings and parameters. This intelligent interface contains the user-specific settings that are activated when the user logs in. The personal settings make it possible to adjust the working environment to the user’s working postures to optimise the working environment. The personal settings can be stored on a USB memory stick to allow them to be instantly programmed to any other Planmeca Sovereign unit. Alternatively, the user settings stored on a memory stick can be inserted to any other Planmeca Sovereign for immediate use, with no need to store the settings in the unit memory. For even greater ease of use, the context-sensitive help menu on the graphical user interface is always available and provides clear text user support. Thanks to its graphical user interface, this new unit will now be the only one to allow you to adjust these various settings according to the operation to be performed; and all this under completely hygienic and aseptic conditions. The interface is intended to assist and support your workflow and must really be an aid.
