Professor Sreenivas Koka

DDS, PhD

Sreenivas Koka is Professor of Dentistry and Chair of the Department of Dental Specialties at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA. He was born and reared in the UK before emigrating to the USA and completing dental and prosthodontic studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He continued his professional education at the University of Nebraska where he earned a PhD degree and completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Eppley Cancer Center.

Professor Koka was a member of the faculty of the College of Dentistry at the University of Nebraska for 12 years before moving to Mayo Clinic in 2004 where he is currently engaged in a hospital based practice and participates in research and educational activities. His current research foci are oral-systemic links with an emphasis on osteoporosis as well as the relationship of clinical decision making in prosthodontics and patient outcomes. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the International Journal of Prosthodontics, an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, a member of the Executive Council of the Academy of Prosthodontics and a member of the American Dental Association’s advisory task force on Osteonecrosis of the Jaw.
